Sounio is possibly the best spot in the wider Athens area to enjoy the sunset and sunrise with magnificent ruins framing the sun. You will enjoy a beautiful scenic drive along the Athens Riviera for 80 minutes until you reach Cape Sounio. Situated on the southernmost point of the Attica region, Sounio is an ideal destination for a half day trip from Athens, especially in the evening.
On your way to Sounio, you will have a stop at the beautiful Lake of Vouliagmeni, a serene natural site with mythological significance. Continue to Cape Sounio, where the Temple of Poseidon stands majestically atop the hill. This ancient temple offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Before your way back to Athens, you will enjoy amazing seafood at a seaside restaurant.
